Luke Howard wins gold at the IKU Senior World Karate Championships in Iguaca Falls, Brazil.
Whilst the world sits down from this coming weekend to watch the Football World Cup take place in Brazil, Karate Wales and Ken-Bu-Kan student, Luke Howard, won gold and the World Senior title at the recent IKU Senior World Karate Championships.
Luke was fighting in the Under 70 kg category, and in the opening round he beat home contender Jefferson Floripo Martins,winning his Kumite match 6-3..
In the quarter finals, Luke faced his English rival, Phil Patrick, and beat him by a very comfortable 6 points to 2. He had to take on the Italian Kumite fighter Dario Bufardeci in the semi-final, and went on to beat him 5-3 for a wll earned place in the Final.
Luke faced Brazilian legend Alexandre Rosa, and stunned the home crowd with a convincing 5-3 win to take the gold medal and World Title.
