Karate | Four young Karateka awarded 1st Dan Black Belt

Four students from Tigers Shotokan Karate Club all make the grade to 1st Dan

Luke Boorman, Harry Taylor, Christopher Gurney and Nicola Li, were all awarded their 1st Dan black belts on Sunday 8th June 2014 by 6th Dan and Chief Instructor Vando De-Bellis of Tigers Shotokan Karate.

All four Karateka started their karate training at the ages of six and seven, and have continued to train a minimum twice a week, each session lasting 90 minutes.

The Dan grading took place under the gaze of Sensei Vando along with the usual panel of Senior Instructors.

Sensei Vando said: “They all started very young, not truly understanding the meaning of learning the art of karate. They are very different people from when they first walked into our dojo. They must be very proud of what they have achieved and they will learn to appreciate the true meaning of this.

“Everyone at the club is very delighted, an excellent result."
