NEW for 2014!
‘Who’s Afraid of MAT5?!’ is a brand new concept we are launching this year to celebrate our 5th year running Bournemouth BJJ Open.
‘Who’s Afraid of MAT5?!’ is run on a separate dedicated matted area.... Any belt, Any weight, Any age can compete against each other on this mat, for a 5 minute fight under IBJJF blue belt rules. We created this concept to enable our competitors to gain more fighting experience. Any competitor can fight on MAT5?! As many times as they would like... You could have a fight before your main category fight to help reduce nerves, you could have an extra fight if you only had one fight in your category and are eager to fight again, or you could simply want to test yourself against another belt, age or weight to see how you get on.
Each competitor must find a match, both parties agree to fight each other, then simply go to MAT5?!, receive a time slot, wait for your names to be called, go and fight.... The winner will receive a gold medal, the loser will leave empty handed.... Win or lose you can fight as many times as you’d like.
